Jackie Cooney Lebbert
PFT, AFLCA Strength, Group and Aquatics Certified, Level 2 Certified Pilates, Instructor Specialized in Pre- and Post- Natal Fitness, Twist Sports Conditioning Level 1, Running, Team and Sports-Specific Training
Jackie was born and raised in Calgary. She has been in the fitness industry for over ten years, where she has developed and honed a variety of different skills and areas of specialty. While she worked for the City of Calgary, she developed various unique programs such as Pure-Strength and Heat. Jackie has taught many workshops for the Running Room and for the City of Calgary. She is a former bobsleigh athlete and was on the America’s Cup and Alberta Bobsleigh teams. She is a former Canadian power-lifting champion and World Bench-press champion. Currently, Jackie trains many aspiring athletes, fire-fighters and people that have a desire to commit to an active lifestyle. She also teaches a variety of classes, including strength conditioning, aerobics, cycling, running-clinics, pre- and post-natal fitness and aqua classes. One of her most rewarding endeavors is the mentoring work she does with other trainers, athletes and youth. She is an avid lover of sports and currently aspires to be an Iron-woman triathlon competitor. On top of all of her accomplishments, she is a happily married mother of three and is excited to be a part of the Calgary JCC team.

Justine Florence
CSEP-CPT, CHEK HLC-1, CHEK Exercise Coach, AFLCA, NCCP 2
Justine has always pursued an active lifestyle. At a young age, she was introduced to summer and winter outdoor adventures and has maintained a love for them. She competed in provincial artistic gymnastics and trampoline and tumbling while coaching recreational gymnastics at all age levels. She now enjoys participating in many different individual and team sports and activities. Her most recent undertakings alongside her husband include soccer, kayaking and paragliding. Justine loved how gymnastics stimulates motor learning and coordination while contributing to overall fitness and it catalyzed her pursuit of a degree in kinesiology at the U of C and a career in human movement and physiology. She also has some experience with team athletic therapy, which fueled her desire to work with sports and physical activity as a career. Justine also completed a minor in adapted physical activity as part of her education and has since worked with adapted and clinical populations in physical activity and fitness. Justine also has a strong interest in food and nutrition which has lead her to further education in the areas of holistic nutrition as a means to seeing the training results desired and to optimal health. Believing strongly in holistic health, injury prevention and accountability, Justine desires to challenge clients of all abilities to achieve new levels of health and fitness.

Laurie Hutchinson
Laurie can be seen promoting her passion for fitness in a variety of ways, from Personal Training to Pilates-based classes. She has brought a new element to our Personal Training repertoire by offering Personal Pilates Reformer training. As a certified Pilate’s instructor, Laurie will correct any alignment issues and strengthen all postural muscles while challenging balance and core strength. Laurie spends her free time in the mountains participating in her favorite activities: skiing, mountain biking and trail running (at either a leisure or competitive level). She is working on her Sport Conditioning Coach Certification and has numerous certifications from ALFCA to Can-Fit-pro.

Ngaio Mendes Barbaro
BPE, CSCS
Ngaio graduated from the University of Calgary with a Physical Education Degree. Ngaio has had the opportunity to work with clients as young as 20 to 87 years young. She has experience in designing strength programs that incorporate cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, weight management, core stability, balance and stretching. Her goal is to challenge her clients by incorporating a variety of exercises and personalizing each client’s workout to their ability. Ngaio keeps fit by running, strength training and golfing when time permits. She enjoys spending time with her husband and being a hockey mom.

Drew Milne
HKIN
Drew graduated from St. Francis Xavier University with a BA in Human Kinetics in 2003. While at St.FX he played on the X-Men soccer team. Then, as part of the Nova Scotia Canada Games team, he was awarded a bronze medal. Being physically active has always been a big part of Drew’s life. A life-long passion has always been soccer, and currently Drew is playing for the Calgary Callies. Depending on the season, he is always on his way out to the mountains either with his bike, snowboard or trekking poles. Drew became a personal trainer so that he could share his knowledge and passion for being active with others, helping people push themselves to the next level. He is certified through the Canadian Personal Trainers Network (CPTN) and is now in the process of gaining AFLCA certifications. Shortly after moving to Calgary he began working at the Calgary JCC as a trainer and an instructor in the recreation and sport department, teaching a variety of classes to children. Drew’s background also includes training at One on One Fitness. And just this past year, he was asked to be an ambassador for lululemon athletica. Drew’s energies and expertise are now focused solely at the JCC. He is involved with the total spectrum from preschoolers to seniors. Increasingly, Drew finds satisfaction motivating clients one-on-one.

Peter Rogers
Peter is currently working towards a kinesiology degree at the University of Calgary after transferring from St. Mary’s University College. While attending St. Mary’s, Peter played basketball for the Lightning and developed a firm belief in the importance of conditioning and a healthy lifestyle. Although basketball is his true passion, Peter continues to play baseball, volleyball, tennis and hand ball. Peter’s love for the outdoors and exercise is shared with his active family. Although he is a new employee, Peter has been a member at the Calgary JCC since he was young.
