Our children’s specialty rooms are designed to be fun, educational and age appropriate. From our babysitting room to the climbing wall in the gym, children of all ages are well taken care of.

We have classes, programs and specialty camps designed for the budding Michaelangelo, Michael Jordan and Mark Spitz. Your child will find many activities to keep them busy, entertained and happy.

Keep your child busy and active in our After School Care program. This program includes transportation from some schools, a healthy and nutritious snack, a homework club and supervised indoor and outdoor play. Our qualified and caring staff ensures your child has a great time!

Children’s Programs

We want your child to experience a variety of different activities where they can have fun, be successful and learn a new skill. We have both care based half-day programs for your pre-school child or after school programs for your older child.

If your child is interested in art, we have pottery and arts ‘n crafts programs. If your child is a real fish in the water, we have swimming classes, junior lifeguard programs and swim clubs.

If your child is active and loves to run, we offer Mighty Munchkins, Junior All Star Sports, Parent/child Latin Spice Dance class and Cheering Class.

If there is a program that you are interested in but we don't have, ask us. We will custom create many programs to suit your child’s needs.

Our two most popular programs are Time for 2s and Kids 'R' Us. One of the cities only unparented two-year-old programs, Time For 2s introduces your toddler to socialization, sharing, circle time and active time without mom or dad.

Our staff are fully certified pre-school educators who ensure your two year old has the time of their life and feel well prepared to enter pre-school the following year. Your child does not need to be toilet trained to be in our program, but they do need to be two years old.

Take a break! Your toddler will play in the gym, create art projects, listen to stories and learn about Shabbat in our daily two-hour program. Sign up for one day or for all five. Your child will thank you!

We also offer a follow up program in the gym for the most active toddlers who want to play for an additional hour!

For your Junior Kindergarten or ECS child we have a half-day program that begins when their pre-school day ends. This program helps your child to prepare for a full day at school in subsequent years and also provides them with many different activities to participate in and build skills.

Kids 'R' Us is offered 5 afternoons a week and includes lessons in ice skating, computer skills and swimming. To help your child burn off that excess energy there is also daily gym time, indoor and outdoor play, and active games. A variety of other activities are offered as well including dance, cooking, arts ‘n crafts and children’s’ entertainers. Your child will never be bored as the activities are different every day of the week.

This program can include transportation from schools, as well as an after school option to keep your child busy all day! This program sells out every year so be sure to register your child early. Members can sign up for the full year starting in March.

JCC Summer Camp!

Our summer camps offer LifeSaving Society Swimming lessons, access to a full-sized gymnasium, qualified and caring staff and a huge variety of activities to keep your child’s day full. No couch potatoes here! Your child will participate in many different activities and learn many new skills at our summer camps.

"Helping Hands" Special Needs Programs

So Kids Can Be Kids!

The Calgary JCC is an inclusive facility offering programs to children, youth, adult and seniors of all ages and abilities. We will work with you to provide support for participants with special needs.

There are four different ways you can participate:

Parent support group

• We know it can be very rewarding to have a child with special needs. We also know it can be very trying. Come and share your triumphs and difficulties with others who may have advice, resources or just a similar story to make you smile! This parent led group meets monthly at the JCC. Coffee and cookies are provided.

Playtime Pal program

• Climbing, swimming, cheering, tennis, knitting, special events and more. There is a world of programs available for your child at the Calgary JCC. To ensure your child has a positive, safe and rewarding experience we will provide a Playtime Pal at no charge. A Playtime Pal is a trained volunteer who will participate in a program with your child so they can experience it all!
• (Mousescript) Playtime Pals are provided free of charge for one program per session to JCC members whose child needs a bit of extra help in a program. Playtime Pals can be provided for additional programs for a small honorarium.

Parents Time Out

• 3 hours on a Sunday morning just for you! Drop off your child at the JCC and they will play, create, swim and have a great time with other kids and Playtime Pals. You can do whatever you want! Have a coffee, shop and actually try things on, talk on the phone or just sit in the grass and stare at the sky. Your child is in good hands. The Parent Time Out program is open to children with special needs. Trained volunteer leaders will integrate your child with other children in gym play at the JCC. Your child will swim in the pool, participate in arts and crafts projects, have a snack and just have fun!
• (Mousescript) Parents Time Out is provided free of charge to JCC members who have a child with special needs. This program is available every Sunday morning during the programming session from 10:00-1:00.

Babysitting listing

• Sometimes it can be difficult to find a babysitter that can understand your child’s special needs. The JCC is pleased to provide a listing of trained and interested individuals for your babysitting needs. These babysitters have participated in the Calgary JCC training and are willing to help out!
• The Calgary JCC is providing the listing only. It is the parents’ responsibility to interview candidates for suitability and discuss payment terms. The Calgary JCC is in no way assuming responsibility for the babysitters.

Bring your own aide

• JCC members can bring their own aide free of charge to assist with a program or a workout. This opportunity is available as often as required.
• The Calgary JCC wants to support, assist and provide programming for your child. We believe all children should have time to play, swim and relax in a safe and rewarding environment. Let us provide this for your child.
