Diversity of Life, Earth and Ecology, Weather
The Kidsmart Science program introduces science exploration and investigations to young children using a hands-on approach that will help facilitate their understanding of how the world works. The program is based on Alberta Curriculum and taught by Betty Woodhouse, ECE certified with the National Science Teachers' Association.
Children will use a variety of science equipment and conduct a number of new experiments every week.

betty woodhouse Betty Woodhouse has been in the Early Childhood field for over 20 years. She has worked extensively with preschoolers, primary-middle school students and children with different degrees of exceptionality. Betty worked at the Calgary JCC BabeCare in the preschool room for two years during the process of accreditation and loved working there. She ran a science program called Young Einstein’s at Yukon College in Whitehorse and it is her love of science that would help her to develop and create the JCC Kidsmart Science program. Betty is a member of the National Science Teachers’ Association. She has been invited by the Canadian Association for Young Children to join the Canadian Early Childhood and Elementary Education Delegation to China in an international exchange this November for two weeks. She has also been invited to the NSTA Conference on Science Education “Diving into the Next Generation of Science” in Fort Lauderdale Florida. She is excited to be participating in this venture and is honored to be representing the JCC.
