I’ve just had a “significant” birthday and retired from the workaday world. My goal is to be the healthiest that I can in the last decades of my life. Having recently dropped a lot of weight with some more to go, I decided that Lose to Win is the ideal program for me. My hope is that it will help me get out of the diet mode by helping me develop a healthy eating regime and get me into a more vigorous exercise program than I am currently doing.
My current interests are travel, gardening and knitting. I just did a challenging hike in the Cinque Terre in Italy. I am very proud of myself and I want to be able to do the hike again in ten years!

I’m in this program to be healthy and feel great. What motivates me? My sister died five years ago as a result of weight-related, adult-onset diabetes, kidney failure and a heart attack.
I want to spend a lot more time living, being fit and able to enjoy all the goodness of life.

I’m a mostly retired nurse – for a woman who has worked all her life, retirement is quite a challenge but I think I’ve nearly figured it out!
As you can see from my photo, I’m a very lucky grandmother (of four). The three Calgary kids really keep me on my toes, which is why I have joined all of you. I want to be able to continue to run, hippity-hop and race around with them.
My hobbies include knitting and reading… rather sedentary pursuits and my backside proves it! I’m embarrassed to say that I am utterly deconditioned.
So, here goes! If you hear me moaning remind me of why I’m doing this.

I have been coming to the Jewish Centre for a few years now… and I totally love it! Everyone is so friendly and the programs and classes are fantastic!
I recently joined the Lose to Win program because I want to be healthy and fit! There are a lot of health issues in my family and I am hoping to avert them by keeping healthy, active and strong and making exercise a priority in my life.
Wtihin the next couple of years my husband, Mark and I would like to cycle across Canada with the Coast to Coast Foundation to help raise awareness for children living with cancer. This ride will be a two-week adventure that will take all my strength, endurance and stamina. I am hoping that the Lose to Win program will help me build the foundation that I need to make this adventure a success. |
