On Monday September 2, 2013, the Calgary JCC will be hosting the Ride for Relief with Tyler Hamilton. This is a bike ride in support of flood relief in Southern Alberta with all of our profits going to KidSport™ Calgary, which provides support to children in order to remove financial barriers that prevent them from playing organized sports. They are receiving many requests from families who have been affected by flooding. We are very excited to announce that Tyler Hamilton, former teammate of Lance Armstrong and former professional cyclist, will take part in the ride to help us raise funds. Details of the ride will follow, but it will be a 55km ride leaving from Red Deer Lake School (South on 53 Street W off Highway 22X) at 9:00am and goes to Brown-Lowery Provincial Park and back. There will also be a 15km family ride leaving from the JCC at 10:00am, going around the Glenmore Reservoir.
The cost to participate is a minimum donation of $250 per individual for the 55km ride with Tyler Hamilton or $100 per family for the 15km ride around the Glenmore Reservoir. This includes a registration package, tech support from Bow Cycle along the bike ride, food and a carnival at the JCC after the ride, with a meet and greet with Tyler Hamilton. You are encouraged to raise this money through friends, family members, coworkers, and neighbours, or donate the money yourself. Please click here to download a registration / sponsorship form.
Every individual / family will receive a raffle ticket to be entered into the draw to win prizes. You will receive an additional raffle ticket for every additional $50 you are able to raise over your registration fee. Remember, all the profits from this event go directly to KidSport™ Calgary!
Join us post-ride at our annual Carnival & BBQ from 12:00 to 2:00pm for a meet and greet with Tyler Hamilton. Your ride entry gains you free admission which includes lunch (hot dog, chips and drink).
In addition, raise over $1,500 and get invited to an exclusive VIP dinner on the night of Sunday September 1, with Tyler Hamilton.
The city has really come together at this time of crisis and we look forward to having your support in our Ride for Relief!
