Hannah Senesh – Between Fiction and Nonfiction
February 25 @ 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM

We present a special forum about the legendary poet-parachutist Hannah Senesh, Israel’s foundational heroine. Join Dr. David Senesh, Ilana Weiser-Senesh, and Douglas Century, as they explore the complex interplay between the Senesh family history, researched nonfiction and fictionalized renderings of this courageous and enigmatic young woman, often called the “Jewish Joan of Arc”.
Dr. David Senesh is a nephew of Hannah Senesh, and was an Israeli POW during the Yom Kippur War. Based in Berlin and Jaffa, Dr. Senesh is a world-renowned psychotherapist specializing in PTSD and the intergenerational transfer of trauma.
Ilana Weiser-Senesh is a second-generation Holocaust survivor, acclaimed novelist, screenwriter, playwright, and facilitator of creative writing workshops. Her fiction explores the themes of family relations, spiritual legacy, homelessness, and belonging.
Douglas Century is a New York Times-bestselling author whose new book “Crash of the Heavens: The Remarkable Story of Hannah Senesh and the Only Military Mission to Rescue Europe’s Jews During World War II” will be published by Simon & Schuster in November 2025.
