SUMMARY:I Am - Sarah Bing Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:In the exhibit “I Am\,” I invite you to embark on a journey of self-exploration and reflection through a collection of paintings that echo the complexities of identity and experience. Each piece serves as a mirror\, reflecting the myriad influences\, emotions\, and moments that have shaped my existence. \nThe title “I Am” encapsulates the paradox of self: I am not limited to these canvases\, yet I am intrinsically woven into each stroke\, each color\, and each layer of texture. My work is a dialogue between my past and present\, a visual narrative that speaks to the essence of who I am. \nAs you engage with these paintings\, consider them not merely as representations of my thoughts and feelings\, but as invitations for you to explore your own identity. Each artwork is a chapter in a larger story\, one that resonates with the universal themes of growth\, struggle\, and transformation. \n“I Am” is an exploration of the multifaceted nature of being – an acknowledgment that our identities are everevolving\, shaped by our histories and the world around us. Through this exhibit\, I hope to foster a sense of connection\, encouraging each viewer to reflect on their own journey and the many layers that comprise theiridentity. \nIn this space\, I invite you to pause\, engage\, and resonate with the emotions and narratives expressed in my work.\nLet us celebrate the beauty of who we are\, the complexity of our experiences\, and the art that emerges from our shared humanity. \nThank you for joining me in this exploration of self through art. \nSarah Bing

SUMMARY:"I Am" Sarah Bing Exhibition - Meet the Artist
DESCRIPTION:You are warmly invited to the art opening of I Am\, a captivating exhibition by artist Sarah Bing\, on Wednesday\, April 9\, from 6:00 to 8:00pm at the Paperny Family JCC. This event features a diverse collection of Sarah’s work over the past 25 years\, including her very first painting created at age 12. Each piece represents different moments in her life\, inviting viewers to reflect on their own existence and discover their true selves. Join us for an evening of art and conversation with the artist! \n  \nAbout Sarah Bing\nSarah Bing is a distinguished artist based in Calgary\, Alberta\, renowned for her vibrant exploration of themes through abstract and expressionistic styles. Graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with distinction from the University of Calgary in 2002\, Bing majored in oil painting\, honing her expertise in color theory under the guidance of a teacher who was a student of the celebrated color field painter Mark Rothko. This rich foundation in color has profoundly influenced her artistic practice. \nBing’s artwork transcends traditional boundaries\, embodying her belief that confining oneself to a single style can stifle creativity. She embraces a diverse range of subjects\, from cityscapes and landscapes to poignant themes such as domestic violence\, judgment\, and mindfulness. Her current body of work serves as a commentary on contemporary society\, delving into the illusion of connection promised by modern technology. Executed in a striking abstract surrealistic style\, her paintings utilize a vivid and electric color palette\, reflecting the complexities of the 21st-century social landscape. \nIn 2010\, Bing received a significant commission from the Calgary Bar Association\, resulting in her monumental painting “The Living Tree\,” which adorns the 52-foot back wall of the ceremonial courtroom in Calgary’s court center. Measuring 25 feet long by 6.5 feet high\, it is a unique piece\, marking the only painting to hang in a courtroom in Canada. \nOutside of her artistic endeavors\, Bing shares her life with her partner of ten years and their blended family of five children. She finds balance through daily meditation\, fitness\, and cherished moments spent with her loved ones. With a commitment to exploring diverse themes and a passion for vibrant expression\, Bing continues to contribute richly to the artistic community\, inviting viewers to reflect on the complexities of life through her powerful works.
