SUMMARY:Transformative Nutrition with Shannon Taylor
DESCRIPTION:In this informative talk\, we will discuss the key factors in optimal health\, followed by a Q & A:\n• Whole foods and their importance\n• Nutrition and meal planning\n• Food intolerances and weight gain\n• Portion sizes\n• Creating and implementing healthy habits\n• Goal setting and strategies to stay on track\n• Stages of change\n• Stress reduction\n• The Importance of sleep\n• Fitness guidelines\n• The importance of community. \n  \nAbout Shannon Taylor \nShannon is passionate about adventure\, movement\, good food and living life to the fullest. She was always an active kid; swimming\, dancing\, snowboarding\, and surfing. She discovered yoga after a painful snowboarding accident\, and loved the inner peace it gave her and the release she felt in her body. Shannon practiced diligently both in the physical sense as well as the spiritual. In 2013 she went on to pursue her dream job; teaching group fitness\, and still loves it to this day. \nIt was a natural immersion into Nutrition\, Shannon was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and in 2017 she decided to go back to school at CSNN (Canadian School of Natural Nutrition). While studying there\, she used the knowledge she was learning and applied it to her own life and healing. By incorporating specific nutrient dense whole foods\, eliminating foods that trigger her immune system\, and supplementing with specific vitamins and minerals\, Shannon started to feel a million times better. Her energy increased\, she got the pep back to her step\, and she was genuinely a happier person. Believing in a holistic approach to health\, Shannon wants to share her knowledge with everyone. Her programs are safe\, effective\, and nourishing. Health is a lifelong journey and Shannon is here to guide you. \nWhat does a Holistic Nutritionist do?

SUMMARY:Yoga Nidra with Bridgette Shaw-Bane
DESCRIPTION:Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation that is equivalent to four to five hours of sleep. It is an incredibly healing practice that is done lying down and takes only 20 to 30 minutes. The tension we carry can be released physically\, mentally\, and emotionally through this practice. There are about nine steps that you are guided through that gradually allows you to move deeper and deeper into relaxation. We will take a look at the steps\, and what is happening in them\, and then I’ll guide you through a nidra so that you can experience the benefits right away! \nHave a pillow\, blanket\, and something to cover your eyes\, as well as a bolster or some pillows under your legs for comfort\, and you will be set! Open to all levels of experience. \n  \nAbout Bridgette Shaw \nBridgette is a senior teacher\, ERYT-500+ with YA\, and teacher trainer. She was initiated as a Sadhaka Yogini in the ISHTA lineage\, by her teacher Yogiraj Alan Finger. Bridgette specializes in Yoga Nidra\, Meditation\, Restorative Yoga\, and Hormone Yoga Therapy. She is one of three women\, in all of Canada\, to be certified by 93 year old creator\, Dinah Rodrigues\, in the hormone yoga practice. \nBridgette’s yoga journey began in 1998 at DePaul’s Theatre Conservatory in Chicago where she grew up. Ten years later\, she found herself living in New York\, back to her east coast roots where her family is from. Here she discovered ISHTA Yoga\, which became her yoga home. In June of 2019 she completed her training in Hormone Yoga Therapy after having life-changing results from the practice – and now offers the practice worldwide. \nBridgette has studied with Kofi Busia\, Seane Corn\, Martin and Jordan Kirk\, Noah Mazé\, Dana Moore\, Sharon Salzberg\, Krishna Das\, Judith Lasater\, and many others. DESCRIPTION:Learn how to build this very versatile rice bowl. Shop ahead and follow along or just watch and make it later. The great thing about this recipe is that you can make it with basically anything you have in your fridge\, pantry\, and freezer. In September of that same year\, she started working for Karen at the café a few evenings a week\, enjoying the hustle of working both jobs through high school. Jenn continued working for Karen part-time over the next several years during her post secondary pursuits afterwhich she took on a full-time role at the café. Over the past 20-plus years\, she has spent most of her days at the JCC in one capacity or another as camp counselor\, teaching children’s cooking classes\, working at the café\, and volunteering at a casino\, the annual JCC Sports Dinner or Shabbat dinner. Jenn also sits on the board of the Calgary Jewish Family Loan Association as vice president\, and spends her spare time making pottery.
