Seniors Program Manager

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Seniors Program Manager to develop, implement, and manage engaging programs that promote social connection, cultural enrichment, and personal growth for our 55+ community. This part-time (25 hrs per week) position offers the opportunity to foster social connection, cultural enrichment, and personal growth while embracing Jewish values and traditions in an inclusive environment.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Organize monthly lunch and learns / seminars, casino outings, and other episodic offerings, collaborating with other JCC departments and community agencies where appropriate.
  • Organize and facilitate weekly challah and seasonal baking initiatives.
  • Create engaging courses to be offered in six-week frequencies.
  • Program summer outing schedule, including transportation.
  • Enhance the quality of current programs, and develop new programs and activities aimed at promoting the social inclusion of seniors, and reducing isolation.
  • Outreach – coordinate with JFSC to engage volunteers for visitations to ill or isolated seniors.
  • Partner with other JCC and Calgary Jewish Federation departments to offer cultural, fitness, and intergenerational program opportunities to participants.

 

Leadership                                                    

  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers to assist with programs and events.
  • Create and lead a program committee to assist with planning, facilitation, and program recruitment.
  • Strategic planning – work with Director of Engagement Programs to create and implement departmental goals for growth and development, including annual budget.
  • Engage in collaborative partnership development – increase agency collaborations, recognizing opportunities for seniors to become more active and engaged and maximize their potential.

 

Administrative

  • Manage program budgets, including tracking expenses and ensuring cost-effective planning.
  • Oversee program marketing, including flyers, emails, and social media requests.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, participation trends, and member feedback.
  • Pursue grant opportunities and provide accurate reporting within guidelines.

 

Other Responsibilities

  • Work to job completion.
  • Undertake other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Active participation in agency-wide activities and programs.

 

Qualifications

  • Preferred three-plus years experience in developing or volunteering with social, educational, and recreational programs for seniors.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Jewish culture, traditions, and values is essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with older adults.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities, including managing budgets.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media platforms.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (preferred).
  • Clear background check and vulnerable sector search.
