Cheese Kugel

Nessie’s Cheese Kugel is a dish that is packed with flavour, kissed with a delicious cinnamon-sugar cornflake topping. It can be baked immediately or prepared in advance, refrigerated, and baked the next day.

 

Prep Time: 20 minutes
Bake Time: 45 minutes
Total Time: 65 minutes
Yield: Serves 10 to 12

 

Ingredients

  • 12 oz package broad noodles
  • 2 oz butter
  • 4 eggs, well beaten
  • 6 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 750 g 1% cottage cheese
  • 500 ml sour cream
  • 2 tsp vanilla

 

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Cook noodles according to package instructions.
  3. Drain noddles and add butter.
  4. In bowl, beat eggs and sugar well.
  5. Add sour cream, salt, and vanilla.
  6. Blend in cottage cheese.
  7. Stir in noodles and pour into large dish.
  8. Bake for 25 minutes.

 

Topping

  • 4 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 3 oz melted butter
  • 1 cup crushed cornflakes
  1. Combine topping ingredients.
  2. Remove kugel from oven after baking time is done.
  3. Spread topping over kugel and bake for another 20 minutes.
